I hope Messi becomes the No.1 goal scorer this FIFA World Cup: Shivin Narang

Shivin Narang

His eyes are a window to his soul. He is the cute and adorable boy-next-door who captivated the hearts of many with his caramel eyes and down to earth nature. Popular television actor Jay Soni is an absolute charmer. He started off his career with a humble beginning and gained popularity through shows like Baa Bahoo aur Baby, Dharti Ka Veer Yodha Prithviraj Chauhan, Sasural Genda Phool and was last seen portraying Jai Kishan on Colors’ popular family drama Sanskaar…Dharohar Apnon Ki.

Football being the rip roaring and thrilling sport, has gripped Jay too. Football is all about achieving goals and so is life, he says. In a free-wheeling chat with Tellychakkar.com, the gregarious actor talks about the riveting and contagious FIFA Fever that he has been enjoying on his .

Are you watching FIFA World Cup?

Genuinely, I haven’t watched all the matches. But whenever I get time I make sure I catch up on them. I enjoy FIFA to the core and practically go mad when I watch the matches.

Which team are you supporting?

I am supporting Brazil because I think it is a strong team as compared to many of the other teams in the league. They have brilliant players and are strong contenders to win FIFA World Cup 2014.

Till now, what have been the most memorable moments of this year’s football World Cup for you?

I think for all of us, the high point was when Uruguay’s footballer Luis Suarez bit Italian footballer Giorgio Chiellini. I think he should use a dog slobber stopper. It will prevent him from biting other players on field (smiles). It was funny, shocking, unpredictable but entertaining as hell.

When you keep busy shooting, where and what do you watch the games on?

A) At work

B) At home

C) In public places

We shoot long hours so there is hardly any time left to catch up on anything we are missing. Sometimes I watch matches in public places, at a friend’s house or wherever possible. But lately due to all our yelling and cheering amidst the FIFA matches, we have proved to be a nuisance to people. So I prefer watching matches at home.

So how do you catch up on the matches you have missed? When do you get the time to catch matches from your busy schedule?

I hardly get time off my busy schedule. The fun element declines when you watch a repeat telecast in comparison to the live match. But usually when my brother is at home, I tell him to record the matches on our . And I enjoy the recorded matches later whenever I get time.

You are aware of all the features on your techie set top box?  What is your favorite feature?

Yes I am. The recording function is my personal favorite. I still have recordings of my Sasural Genda Phool episodes on which are nearly two years old. But even today it is a delightful experience to relive the old memories with a fantastic picture quality. So the recording function is one of my favorites.

Now tell us about your favorite player/s?

My favorite player is Neymar. He is not too aggressive. Neither is he laid back. He plays smart. It’s sad that he is out of the tournament now.

Do you play football when free?

I play very rarely. But I love the game. My shoot for my previous show wrapped just a month back; I hardly had time to even sleep. And as actors we need to be a little careful while engaging in aggressive sports because there is always a fear of sustaining injuries. So whenever I play, I am not too aggressive. I play for the love of the game.

Football is all about goals. What’s your goal in life?

My goal in life is to win a National Award. I want to do something performance oriented in either television or Bollywood. I am a performer and my goal is to perform my level best.

Way to go Jay! Tellychakkar.com wishes you all the very best.
