Humble and confident is the lady named Ishita Dutta. After her successful stint with Star Plus’ show Ek Ghar Banaunga, Ishita tried her hands in regional films as well as in Bollywood. Like television, she succeeded in the film world too. Now, the lady is back again with Life OK’s newest venture, Rishton Ka Saudagar Baazigar.
Recently, we spoke to Ishita about her latest project, film aspirations, sibling rivalry with her sister Tanusree and many more.
Excerpts.
Ishita, what made you agree to do this project?
For me, apart from the script and content, what is very important is the team I work with. Initially, when I went for my screen test, I met the core team consisting of the director, creative director, producers, who are too passionate about the work. The positive vibe, which I received from the team made me realise that it’s going to be a pleasant experience. From the time I have joined it has been one fun filled journey. And I am pretty sure that we do have something different in our kitty to offer to our audience.
From the glimpse of the promo released and few episodes that have been aired, the series looks similar to many shows that have been aired before. So, what new do you have for the viewers?
See, with so many shows being made on television, it is bound to look similar to that of other projects. Even in Bollywood all the love sagas are about a young boy and young girl in love. What makes each story distinguishing is the way the story is being told. Definitely, the script of Baazigar is different and the storytelling is really unique, which I am sure is going to entertain our audience a lot.
After doing pretty well in Bollywood, why did you come back on small screen?
(With a pretty smile), I never left TV on the very first place. Even when I entered Bollywood many asked me whether I have quit small screen or not, but I never did that. In between my Bollywood projects I also did few regional films and now I am back on small screen once again. I am just keeping many options available for me.
You sister Tanusree is also a Bollywood star. Now, with your entry in Bollywood is there any sibling rivalry between you two?
I don’t understand the term sibling rivalry at all. How can you have rivalry with the person, who is everything to you? Whatever I am today, is all because of her. I am sending her every single detail about the progress of my show, as she is out of station. She is just super excited with my success story.
Baazigar airs at the 7:30 time slot that has already been occupied by popular shows like Yeh Hai Mohabbatein and Sasural Simar Ka. So, aren’t you scared that such tough competition might affect your show as well?
There is no fun to work without having a very tough competition. We have really worked hard for this project and I am sure that we will be able to match up to the level of YHM and SSK. I am not at all bothered by my competitors.
Do you feel that if the show would have been on any other GEC then it would have been able to grab more eyeballs?
(With a confident spark in her eyes) My show will take the channel to the numero uno position. Even during the time of Ek Ghar Banaunga, there were no big game changer in the 6:30 time slot, but we did it. I am sure we are again going to do that.
What do you have to say about your co-star Vatsal Sheth?
Vatsal saved my life during the shoot in Lucknow, he is one true hero. Naturally, I will all praise about him (laugh). On a rather serious note, he is one super cool person, who is always up to some mischief. Vatsal is a wonderful human being apart from being a very good actor and I guess no one can deny that.
Recently you and Vatsal signed a no-dating contract, which created much buzz in the industry. What is your take on the matter?
Initially when I heard about it, even I started laughing, then the makers told me about the reason and I agreed to it. I am here to work, hence, I was sure that I wouldn’t have let go the show because of this contract. I know that any one can predict about your future love life, but if anything happens in future then I will see about it.
Coming to your personal life are you dating someone or intend to get married?
No, I am not dating anyone. I don’t have any plans to settle down in coming three years, but as I have said earlier that you can predict about the matters of heart. I may change my decision in future or may not. After all, you can’t plan everything in life.
Well said lady!!! We wish you all the luck.
