'I feel happy when women hate me' Sanjit Bedi Television shows going off air has stopped making news. It happens so often these days that people have stopped batting an eyelid even if a very popular show goes off air. Case in point is Cinevistaas’ Jaane Kya Baat Hui. despite having a good start, decent TRPs and good audience reaction is also going off air, but no on is really bothered. Everyone seems to have accepted the fate of most serials. Tellychakkar spoke to actor Sanjit Bedi who plays the role of Shailendra in the show and tries to find out the exact reasons: On JKBH going off air … I was so shocked and astounded that I could not believe what I heard. But slowly I made myself understand that this is the way the industry operates nowadays. I agree that the show was not getting very good TRPs for the last few episodes, but I don’t think it reached the proportions where they had to close it down. But, I don’t think being an actor, I am the right person to comment on it. It is the headache of the producer and broadcaster. On what went wrong in the show… I have heard many stories about what went wrong. For example, there is a version which says that the audience (largely women) felt that Aradhana should not plead with Shailendra and should teach him a lesson. Aradhana was, instead, trying to be with Shailendra and sort out her problems. But I don’t know how true this story is. Any woman in our country will always try to mend a relationship till the end. At the same time, it is also true that there are women who want to be just opposite of what Aradhana is and that is where the conflict starts leading to poor TRPs. Of late, all shows on Colors including Balika Vadhu, Laado, Uttaran and Bhagyavidhata are doing good in rural areas and I believe the reason is the realistic approach they take. This is the latest trend. Having said that, I must also add that closing down the show is a commercial decision on the channel’s part. On working with Shweta Tiwari… We have come a long way. The journey with her from Kasauti to JKBH has been memorable. She is a gifted actress and I have an excellent relationship with her on and off screen. She is no less than a close friend family to me. I feel Shweta’s acting capabilities are so high that anyone performing her will also improve his skills. I still remember how she helped me when I was trying to get into Shaildendra's character. She kept on telling me that I should not look at it as Sanjit, but as Shailendra. Both of us are very proud of JKBH. When we first got to know of the show going off air, we told each other jaane kya bat hai. On his wife’s reaction seeing him play an unfaithful husband… You should ask my wife! But I can tell you that whenever she was involved in any discussion from the show, she proudly said – I know Shailendra is bad but I am proud to be Sanjit's wife. And from the creative side, I feel very happy when I see women hating me! On Shailendra versus Dr Omi… This is a real tough one! I consider myself very lucky to get the best roles from Cinevistaas. Dr. Omi (Sanjeevani) gave me my popularity, but Shailendra gave me the platform for an actor to deliver his best. Shailendra was a hero, villain and vamp, if I may say so. It is almost like a 3D character in JKBH. On Sanjeevani versus Dil Mill Gayee Dill Mill Gayye is a sequel to Sanjeevani and is about the young generation and their love lives. I agree that the first part also had a similar storyline, but the theme was something different. I don’t think I would have fit in Dil Mill Gayee. Karan and Jen (Jenifer) are good friends of mine and I think they are doing great job in the show. On life after JKBH I have already planned a nice vacation with my wife. This time we will be going abroad and I want to take good rest before I start working again.
