With Piya Ka Ghar, I am climbing one step above from where I was earlier - Bharti Sharma

Bharti Sharma
Sahara One Television’s family show Piya Ka Ghar Pyaara Lage has been gaining popularity with new and popular artistes essaying title roles and interesting twists and turns in its storyline. With a fresh new plot, Bharti is essaying the character of Urmila who makes her presence felt to heat up the family drama and the plot. The actress is relying on her experience while working on this much appreciated show. Bharti Sharma, speaks about her character in the serial and lots more… What’s your character in Piya ka Ghar Pyaara Lage? If I have to put my role in one word, then it will be Mazeedar. It is a very complex character. It’s not a plain vanilla ‘negative’ role who is here to destroy the family. While creating rifts within the family is Urmila’s ultimate goal, she has a different and an interesting side as well. She is quite funny and entertaining. She thinks she is the guru or a pundit of English language, but in reality she knows very little about the lingo. Viewers have not seen you in any impactful roles before – do you think Sahara One’s Piya Ka Ghar Pyaara Lage is one big impactful role in your kitty – share your thoughts? This is a very impactful role that I have been blessed with and I can’t thank Sahara One and Piya Ka Ghar... team enough. The response that I have got from audience is overwhelming. People have started noticing me. In fact one thing I would like to share is that, I owe a lot to Sahara One and the show, as I am now being recognized in the industry. I have started getting offer calls from a lot of shows. With Piya Ka Ghar, I am climbing one step above from where I was earlier. How different is it from the other roles you’ve played on small screen? Unlike other roles I have played previously in my career so far, this is a complex character. In fact it is the biggest challenge so far for me as an actor. Urmila has a style of her own. She is the only one of her type. She thinks she knows English and flaunts it as well. Little does she know that she is miles away from being correct. Along with being negative she has a funny bone to her. I had to do a lot of homework before starting with the shooting. It is not as simple as it looks. Every day I have to think about what is it that I can add to the style that will make Urmila look and sound funny. Even today, I have to rehearse dialogues in my make-up room to add an extra dose of humor to it. And I have never played a character like this before. It has either been black or white. Would you like to try out roles on small screen which are different from that of Urmila? I would love to give it my best shot and then move on. I do not want to let go of this role so easily. I do not want anyone to replace me. How is it working with Leena Jumani, Giriraj Kabra and the rest? Considering they have been with the show for a long time is it difficult for you to adjust with them? It’s not at all difficult. I feel I know them forever. We have a good rapport off screen and I think that is very important as it shows on screen. We sit together during breaks, break into random laughs, pull someone’s leg, plot a prank on someone. It has been a jolly good ride so far and I hope it remains the same. Share something about yourself. How is Bharti Sharma in real life? What are her likes and dislikes? Bharti on-screen and off are poles apart. I am a very simple girl next door. I was born and raised in Ahmedabad. At a party or social gathering I usually sit in one corner. I take my own time to mingle with people. I am an introvert. When I am not acting, I am working out. I am a big fitness freak. Acting and fitness makes me complete. Please share details about the other project? Is Bollywood on cards? Right now, along with Piya Ka Ghar Pyaara Lage, Pyaar Ka Dard Hain Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara is keeping me busy. Besides these I am not doing anything else. I am sure Piya Ka Ghar Pyaara Lage & Sahara One will open up many other doors for me.
