Read on… You hail from Barry John’s Acting School. Has the acting course helped you? I did a diploma from Barry John’s Acting Studio. It was a great learning experience. I learnt improvisation, body language and how to use your voice while acting. You are an introvert who does the role of an extrovert. How do you manage that? I did that from the first day though I am not too sure as to how I did so. Playing the role of an extrovert all the time gets a bit tiring. However as Jeet’s character has sobered down of late, it is not so stressful anymore. Do you have any similarities with Jeet? Like Jeet I am emotional and very attached to my family. Whenever I get an off for a few days, I fly off to my hometown Allahabad to spend some quality time with my family. What do you like about Jeet? I like the fact that he is confident, can communicate with and impress anyone, cute, charming and high on energy. What do you not like about Jeet? I don’t like the fact that he is childish at times and gets confused a lot. I feel that he should be confident enough to take decisions. If you met Jeet what would you advise him? I wouldn’t advise him. Like every human being he has both positive and negative traits. He is quite a lovable and charming guy and should stay that way. Some words about your co-star Annie Gill … She is an extrovert whereas I am an introvert. I take time to open up whereas she is just the opposite. She has a very genial personality and can communicate with any actor. She is a talented actor who can understand her scenes brilliantly. She is fully prepared after reading the scene just once. Some words about your co-star Simran Kaur… She is very reserved and is a thorough professional. She is always well prepared while shooting. Some think that this show may be promoting misogyny as Anamika is a witch… I disagree. Anamika (Simran Kaur) is not a villain even though she is drinking blood. She is doing what she is doing as she has problems of her own. She is behaving like this as she loves Jeet a lot. Rano (Annie Gill) is very strong, determined, intelligent and loyal. So, how are we promoting misogyny when we are showing strong women? Anamika has an eerie touch. Have you had any supernatural experience? Thankfully not. I do believe in the supernatural though. If there is positive energy, surely there is also be negative energy. What according to you are your strengths and weaknesses as an actor? I can get the essence of the scene very well. I can improvise well. I am good at imbibing the correct body language while acting. Regarding my drawbacks, if there is a technical snag and I have to do a retake, at times it gets tough for me to give the same expressions. Also my concentration needs to improve. If you weren’t an actor what would you have been? I sincerely believe that I was destined to be an actor. I was actively involved in my father’s business which involves the sale of agricultural products (the export of leather, pipes etc). My dad suggested that I go to Mumbai to try out my luck in acting. Had I not been an actor, I would have assisted in my father’s business or would have been a cricketer. I am an athletic person who is good at cricket. Maybe I could have made a career out of it. Your dream role is like… My dream role is that of a villain. Many people think that as I have chocolate boy looks, I can only play a positive character. I want to change that pre-conceived notion. What kind of roles would you never do? I don’t think I would like to play an infidel husband who leaves his wife. I am simply not comfortable in playing a role like that. Do you have a girlfriend? No, I do not. What qualities do you look for in a girlfriend? I really don’t know as I have no fixed criteria. When the time comes, I will know if the girl is right for me.
