MUMBAI: Shweta Basu Prasad is an actress who has made her name in both, Hindi and South cinema. The actress first made her entry into Hindi movie industry as a child actress with the movie ‘Makdee’ and then grew up to be so skilful and so beautiful that it was impossible to overlook her charm on and off the screen.
The actress gained a lot of recognition for her performance in Iqbal, a 2005 movie starring Naseeruddin Shah and Shreyas Talpade where Shweta Basu Prasad played the role of Shreyas Talpade’s on-screen younger sister. However, after Makdee and Iqbal, we did not get to see the actress for a long duration.
In an exclusive interview with Tellychakkar, Shweta Basu Prasad revealed why after Iqbal, her parents made her to step out of the acting world.
Shweta Basu said, “...After Iqbal, mujhe Rajkumar Santoshi ji ki Halla Bol offer hui thi, aur Madhur bhandarkar ji ki film Traffic Signal offer hui thi but my parents said no to both of them. They said, ‘she is in eighth right now, do saal mein uska tenth hai. If she, after graduation usko acting karna ho toh woh karegi, nahi karna hai nahi karegi, usko baahar jaake padhai karni hai toh karegi’, because my dad has mostly lived outside of India so, they were like, ‘agar woh usko baahar jaake padhai karni hai toh woh karegi but she cannot act right now because she really has to focus on her studies and more than studies, she needs to live a normal life.’ Kya hai na, aapko har age mein, kuch cheeze karni hoti hai and as a teenager, I needed to chill with friends, hangout with family, do things that I have to because uss time ke liye woh required hai.”
Shweta Basu Prasad will be seen next in her upcoming Disney Plus Hotstar series ‘Oops Ab Kya?’ which will be available to stream from 20th February.
