A known face in theatre and television, Vandana Sajnani is making a comeback to television after 3 years. She is all set to enter Ratna Sinha's Babul Ka Aangann Chootey Na as a hotelier. Besides that she is also making her directorial debut in films. We get Vandana to chat about her show, her film and theatre. Tell us something about your role in Babul Ka Aangann? I will be essaying the role of Maya who is a hotelier. Maya is a very ambitious woman who is in her mid thirties. She has everything but is still a spinster. I have entered the show to help Aastha. Aastha discusses her problem with me of whether she should or should not marry. As I too had been in a similar predicament I suggest she get married. There is a big twist in the story post her marriage. Is it a negative or a positive role? Initially I’m positive but after Aastha marries and becomes the bahu I turn negative. After marriage she becomes my boss and handles the hotel. It’s a nice graph and I get enough time to transform my self. The best part of the show is that I need to shoot for six to seven days and therefore I can concentrate on my other projects. What took you three years to return to TV? I was busy with my production house and the plays. As I was travelling all these years for my play I could not give enough time else where. I was very busy organising events as I also have an event management company. Now that I have some time in hand I thought of getting back to my first love- acting. Has television changed? It has drastically changed. I still remember my last show, Sarhadein, where the shooting schedule was not so hectic. At that time we used to shoot 4 to 5 scenes a day but now I shoot 20 to 25 scenes a day. Besides that the policies have changed and the magnitude of this medium is huge. Today you cannot expect to pack up at the scheduled hour. Also there is lots of stress. But what has improved is quality. Well as they say, no pain no gain. What else do you have on your plate? I’m making a directorial debut with a comedy film for youngsters. I can’t reveal many details as its still in its initial stages but I am looking out for some fresh faces. There will be actors from the industry too. Why a comedy? I have a comedy background in acting. Comedy has been my forte and that the reason I chose a comedy flick to debut as director. On the personal front when do you become Mrs Rajesh Khattar? We are getting married in about three months. Though we have to decide on the actual date it will happen soon. Is there a role for him in your film? There is a role for him. I have made him the offer but he hasn’t committed as he is very busy with his current projects.
