We feel that life without poetry would be incomplete…your thoughts?

Poetry is a great means to express your feelings. At times you cannot say things verbally but can pour your heart on a piece of paper.

Do you have interest in poetry and shayari?

Most certainly. I have actually written quite many poems. I am not an extrovert, hence poetry is sort of a window to my emotions.

Has anyone written or recited a poem or shayari to profess their love to you?

A lot of time (blushes). From school to college days I have received many and it’s quite flattering. Today, my fans write beautiful poems for me which are really special.

In this day and age – where people have lost interest in poetry and that kind of romance, how do you stay connected to shayari/poetry?

There are lot many means, like internet, apps etc. I personally stay connected because I love the art form. It’s a means for me to express. I find solace in poetry. If you are connected to your emotions, you are connected to poetry.

Who is your favorite shayar or poet?

I have been a loyal reader of Shakespeare since childhood. Every writer and his or her works are important. Talking about Indian poets, I would state Javed Akhtar writings are a fine piece of art.

Poetry is understood essentially as a soulful expression. It has been used in the past to express all emotions of life (not just alcohol, love and betrayal, as popularly believed). What do you associate poetry with?

Ahh…I think when I am a little upset or low, that’s when I write poems.

Javed Akhtar is a magician with the pen. Any favourite song or poem of his you remember/like?

I read one recently… Aap Bhi Aaye, Hum Ko Bhi Bulate Rahiye, Dosti Jurm Nahi, Dost Banate Rahye, Jahar Pe Jaye Aur Batye Amrit Sabko, Jakam Bhi Khaye Aur Geet Bhi Gate Rahiye, Wakt Ne Lut Le Logo Ki Tamannae Bhi, Khawab Jo Dekhye Auro Ko Dikhate Rahye, Shakal To Aapke Bhi Jahan Mein Hogi Koi, Kabhi Jayegi Tasvir, Banate Rahye
