The super sexy and most charming Viraf Phiroz Patel, who is currently seen in Ek Boond Ishq on Life OK, believes that he is much loved by the girls in town for his look and personality not only on reel but also in real life.
The actor, who defines style, has the most unique and fashionable dressing amongst most actors. Here in a chat with Tellychakkar.com, the heartthrob talks what fashion means to him in our Lifestyle section.
Fashion is?
Fashion is the celebration of another futile aspect of human behavior. I think too much is made of it. For me, fashion is simply a certain set of people calling something cool.
Fashion is extremely subjective to place, time, culture and religion. However on a more hypocritical note, it’s also an excuse for me to submit to retail therapy every now and then and hopelessly lose my battles against consumerism.
Who chooses your clothes?
Anybody else except me. I rely on the sensibilities of my friends and loved ones. My neighbour cum model-actor and buddy Freddy Daruwala rescues me from being a social embarrassment most of the time. I also believe that I have the worst sense of dressing; even Adam may have dressed better than me. But I must warn you that since a while I’ve got better.
Do you wear accessories?
Yes. Sunglasses, watches, broaches (which are occasionally pocket squares), neck ties and cufflinks are something that I love wearing. I have been on the lookout to improve my ‘socks appeal’ as well. Hopefully, someday I shall start using the brand called Socks Appeal and make the coolest socks since I feel they are a very underrated aspect of clothing in our era.
Do you follow any brand?
I am most promiscuous when it comes to shopping for clothes and think one should be as well. I believe in searching for that love at first sight feeling while buying clothes. I feel that makes the buy all the more satisfying.
Favourite shopping destination?
There is no particular destination from where I can shop from.
Your most expensive buy?
I don’t know which one to pick.
Clothes you are comfortable in?
I am most comfortable in a pair of classic straight fit blue denims and a white cotton/linen shirt not tucked in with brown leather shoes.
Must have in your wallet:
Currency.
Favourite perfume?
I like anything that is a mix of wood and citrus with a dash of sweetness. I often find myself using fragrances like Narciso Rodriguez, Guerlain, Jpg, Aaqua di gio and Polo blue.
Describe sale in one word:
I won’t even waste time describing it. Yes, one word that I’ll just rush to the place ...tell me where is it (winks).
Currently your wardrobe is overflowing with?
My wardrobe currently overflows with a lot of white shirts.
You have the hardest time getting dressed for?
My mom she is such a tough cookie to please when I am out with her. She brutally disapproves most of what I wear, especially my slippers.
Any fashion disaster you have come across recently?
Trust me when I say that it’s me every morning. I don’t know why or how, but I find it really difficult to put things onto me and find myself begging and pleading to my neighbours as well as my friends to put the right things on me. For if you leave me alone, I’ll just be in front of my wardrobe staring at it till there is a eureka moment!
If you had to choose a fashion era, which period would it be?
Yes, the era of Neanderthals. I believe that life would be just so easy with leaf or leather sarongs and a wooden club to hunt and hang with. Also the Victorian times where people like Sherlock Holmes and Watson wore those now-famous hats.
