MUMBAI: Anil Kumble’s contribution in the field of cricket is immense and his journey inspires many. He played cricket for almost two decades.
Nicknamed Jumbo, he is India's highest wicket taker and world's third highest wicket taker in test cricket. He is also the only bowler to claim 10 wickets in a test innings after England's Jim Laker. He was a right arm leg spin (leg break googly) bowler.
For his contribution in cricket, Kumble, also a commentator and coach, was awarded the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian honour in 2005.

But did you know the former cricketer also tried his hand at acting?
Well, for the uninitiated, Anil Kumble acted in a film called Meerabai Not Out. Also starring Mahesh Manjrekar, Mandira Bedi, Eijaz Khan and Anupam Kher, it’s a film based on cricket. Anil Kumble played a small role in this Chandrakant Kulkarni directorial. The film was released in 2008.
