Yes, he does have a connection and it’s interesting.
Well, one of his nicknames is Viru and the film too has a character named Veeru.
For the uninitiated, Sholay tells the story about two criminals, Veeru and Jai, played by Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan respectively.
According to an old media report, when Virender was asked by one of his fans about his favourite Bollywood film, he had wittily replied, “My favourite movie is Sholey! Kyunki usmein bhi Viru tha”.
