MUMBAI: One of India’s foremost Table Tennis players, Achanta Sharath Kamal was bestowed with the most prestigious sporting award in the country, the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award on 30th November. He was presented with the award by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Many other sportsmen were present at the event and won various other awards, but out of all of them, Sharath bagged the highest accolade for his many accomplishments in his sport.
There were a total of 25 athletes that bagged the Arjuna trophy, which included well-known sportsmen like Badminton player Lakshya Sen, Prannoy H. S., female boxer Nikhat Zareen, and more athletes like Eldhouse Paul, Avinash Sable and more.

Many fans took to social media to congratulate the veteran as he received the highest award a sportsman can get in India. Even students of his shared their love and pride for their mentor through various fan arts and appreciation posts.
Achanta Sharath Kamal is a professional Indian Table Tennis player, who became the first to ever become the ten-time Senior Nationals Champion, breaking the record of eight-time National Champion Kamlesh Mehta. He has also previously been awarded with many prestigious accolades like the Arjuna Award (the 2nd highest sporting award in India) in 2004, the Padma Shri (India’s 4th highest civilian award) in 2019, the men’s singles gold in the 16th Commonwealth Table Tennis championship in 2004, and many more. Now adding on to this list, is the prestigious Khel Ratna award. He is also a recipient of the Padma Shri award, the 4th highest Indian civilian award in 2019.
