MUMBAI: With its engaging plot and endearing characters, Zed TV's freshly premiered series Jamai No. 1 has been enthralling viewers. When Neel (Abhishek Malik) marries Riddhi (Simaran Kaur) and consents to become the Chotwani house's ghar jamai, the drama takes an interesting turn. But since Kanchan (Papia Sengupta) is against their union, Neel prepares for the difficulties she would provide.
Viewers will observe Neel's muh-dikhai ceremony in the next episodes, which Kanchan views as the ideal chance to make fun of him. In an attempt to make him appear silly and ashamed in front of everyone, she challenges him to wear a saree. Neel, however, doesn't follow the rules. He transforms the red saree into a striking dhoti-style drape, carrying it with effortless ease, and instead of feeling uncomfortable, he dazzles everyone. Once again demonstrating that Neel is always one step ahead, what started off as a moment of ridicule transforms into a daring fashion statement. And that's not all! Even Abhishek Malik was thrilled to film this special scene, describing Neel's transition from saree to dhoti as a potent moment that encapsulates his charm and confidence.
For me, it was an entirely new experience," stated Abhishek Malik. I never thought I'd be dressed in a crimson saree, much less wearing it as a muh-dikhai ceremony dhoti! I couldn't stop laughing at this challenge as I was getting ready, but I was astounded when I saw the finished product. To be honest, trying something so different on Indian television was fantastic. From the hilarity on set to my own botched attempts at wrapping it, it was such a great experience. The saree-turned-dhoti was novel, nevertheless, in the end. I always enjoy stepping outside of my comfort zone when I play a character like Neel. I'm eager to observe the audience's response to these scenes.
With Neel winning this challenge in style, it will be interesting to see how his relationship with Kanchan evolves now that they are under the same roof!
