Shekhar Suman has been fascinated by the innumerable musical reality shows. In fact, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge's resident judge doesn't hesitate in saying that the comedy show was losing viewership to Indian Idol. The actor-turned-singer will now be seen on Sahara One's musical reality show 'Jhoom'.
Jhoom is a reality show wherein celebrities will match their vocal chords with professional singers. Each pair will be judged by the legend Asha Bhosle. Surprisingly, Shekhar, a singer himself, is taking part in the show as a celebrity. The actor is being paired with singer Sanjeevani Bhelande - a product of Sa Re Ga Ma.
"I'm taking part in the show as a celebrity and not as a singer. I was surprised when the channel approached me. However, they didn't have any issues with me having prior experience in singing. So, I was more than keen to oblige them." says Shekhar Suman.
Won't the pairing of two singers tilt the scale in their favour? Shekhar replies, "I'm still far from being a complete singer. Jhoom gives me the opportunity to improve. I've been practicing for four hours daily. However, I'm not the only celebrity with experience in singing. Varun Badola has learnt singing. There's another actress who has a background in classical singing. I think we all are on equal platform. At the end of the day, it's not always your talent but the viewers' vote that will decide the winner.
Our viewers have a history of voting out the best contestants. Let's hope that Shekhar and Sanjeevani don't suffer from this syndrome.
