Aditya Deshmukh on Balancing Fame and Privacy: "Being an Actor Is Both a Blessing and a Curse"

MUMBAI: Actor Aditya Deshmukh, known for his roles in Ziddi Dil Maane Na, Lag Ja Gale, and Suhaagan, and currently seen in Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin, says that he enjoys the popularity that comes with being an actor on screen. He adds that it is a good reward for working so hard as an artist.

“I personally love being recognized because, at the end of the day, that is what we, as actors, work so hard for. Acting is not just about portraying a character, it is about connecting with audiences and bringing smiles to their faces. Being an actor is a unique experience; it is both a blessing in disguise and, at times, a curse,” he says.

He adds, “It is a blessing because we have the opportunity to portray so many different roles, immerse ourselves in storytelling, and leave an impact on people’s lives. However, it can also be a curse because, no matter what is happening in our personal lives, we are expected to maintain a certain public persona. Even on difficult days, we have to continue acting, not just on-screen but sometimes off-screen as well. The key lies in finding the right balance and learning how to navigate between personal space and public expectations without losing oneself in the process.”

Ask him if he finds it challenging to be under public scrutiny even during personal outings, and he says, “I genuinely love people, and I appreciate it when they recognize me. It gives me an extra boost of confidence and a sense of validation that what I am doing is reaching people in the right way. There is a certain self-satisfaction that comes from knowing that your work is being acknowledged. Fans are, without a doubt, the biggest asset an actor can have, and we should never forget that.”

He adds, “No matter what an actor might be going through in their personal life, I believe they should always try to remain warm and positive around their fans. After all, it is the fans who make or break an actor’s career. The love and appreciation we receive from them is irreplaceable, and I feel it is our responsibility to reciprocate that respect. Even on days when I might not be in the best mood, I remind myself that these moments mean a lot to the people who support us. A single interaction, a smile, or a quick photo can make their day, and that is something I never take for granted.”
