Anuj Sachdeva proves his mettle; juggles two contrasting characters in Sony SAB’s 'Dhruv Tara'

MUMBAI : Mumbai, March 13, 2024: After the leap in Sony SAB's 'Dhruv Tara - Samay Sadi Se Pare', Anuj Sachdeva made a striking entry into the show as the prince of Devgarh, Maan Singh, winning over fans with his portrayal of a negative character. Recently, a new character, Kapali, was introduced, adding an intriguing twist to the show. Much to the audience's surprise, Kapali turned out to be none other than Anuj Sachdeva himself, as Maan Singh in disguise to kill his brother Suryapratap (Karan V Grover) and claim the throne of Devgarh.
Showcasing his versatility, Sachdeva delivered a stellar performance as Kapali while simultaneously portraying Maan Singh. Playing two distinct characters simultaneously is a rare feat, but Anuj proved his mettle effortlessly. In a recent conversation, the actor delved into the preparation and details involved in bringing both characters to life.
On preparing for the unique role and the challenges he faced, Anuj Sachdeva revealed, "The biggest challenge I faced was getting into the look of Kapali, which required a minimum of 2 hours. Kapali’s appearance and makeup are quite unique, and I had to focus on adapting a walk that had a slightly more feminine touch. Since I didn't have much time to prepare for Kapali, and I was already using my natural voice for Maan Singh’s role, I needed to ensure a noticeable difference in Kapali’s voice. I opted for a higher pitched tone, something that resonates and lingers in your ears, which required some adjustment."
Speaking about the contrast between the two roles and transitioning between them, the actor explained, “There's a significant difference between both characters. In television, we have a limited timeframe to perform, so on days when I have to switch between Maan Singh and Kapali, or vice versa, it becomes challenging as an actor to adjust my mannerisms, walk, voice, and appearance."
When questioned about the reception to Kapali's character, he shared, “My fans, the production team, and everyone on set appreciated the character so much that they often repeat my dialogues and request me to recite lines. Despite the challenges, it's fulfilling to see that the effort I put in is recognized and enjoyed by both the crew and viewers alike.”
Speaking about the transformation into Kapali, the actor remarked, “The process is quite lengthy. I'm not familiar with wearing a saree, so the team assists me. I have to shave every day for this role. Then comes the extensive makeup session, followed by the jewelry. Putting on the hair wig is another challenge; it becomes uncomfortable after a while. Despite the tedious process, the character's vibrant appearance on camera brings me a lot of satisfaction. I must commend all the women who wear sarees and manage such elaborate looks daily; it's not an easy task. I shared the same with Riya Sharma, who plays Tara. If the women in your life take two hours to get ready, please let them take their time. Hats off to all women!”
Reflecting on the role, the actor expressed, “As an actor, it's important to challenge yourself and explore roles outside of your comfort zone. It's not common for TV actors to openly embrace such diverse characters, and I take immense pride in my decision to take up this role. I've put my heart and soul into portraying Kapali, and I believe I've done justice to it.”

Tune in to watch Dhruv Tara- Samay Sadi Se Pare every Monday to Saturday at 8:00 PM only on Sony SAB
