Ashiesh Roy is on cloud nine these days and with good reason too. The actor, who’s currently seen as Surendra Bharadwaj in Colors’ soap Sasural Simar Ka, has been nominated for ‘Best Supporting Actor’ in the upcoming Sab Ke Anokhe Awards, being organized by Sony SAB TV.
Ashiesh has been nominated for his outstanding portrayal of the dreaded underworld don Anna in the Mrs. & Mr. Sharma Allahabad Wale.
“Anna has been a landmark role for me,” states a visibly excited Ashiesh. “It was a complicated character – a dreaded underworld don on the one hand, and an emotional man on the other, who will go to any lengths to protect and please his muh-boli sister (played by Divyanka Tripathi). Anna also had a romantic side to him – and the cutest bit was that such a dreaded goon was utterly tongue-tied in front of his beloved (played by Shruti Singh),’ said Ashiesh.
Furthermore, he gives all the credit for his award nomination to his team. “Anna is completely the writer Rajat and lead actor Rajesh Kumar’s creation. It was they who recommended me for the role, and if I win the award, I will have them to thank. And, of course, producer Ujjwal Rana and Sony SAB TV for approving of me.”
We wish Ashiesh Roy all the best for the upcoming awards, and hope that he wins.
“Oh, by the way, did I mention that originally Anna was just a three-scene character?” smiled Ashiesh, signing off…
