MUMBAI: Star Bharat’s show Ajooni is gripping the viewer’s hearts with its storyline, and the chemistry between Ayushi Khurana as Ajooni and Shoaib Ibrahim as Rajveer.
It tells the tale of Ajooni, a lady who will do anything to defend her rights. Rajveer is a member of the powerful Bagga family in Punjab. The Baggas are a deeply traditional and superstitious family, led by Rajveer's father, Ravindra Singh Bagga. On the other hand, the Vohra family adheres to tradition but also keeping modern thoughts, while teaching their daughters Ajooni and Meher. Despite initially seeming mismatched, Rajveer Singh Bagga and Ajooni Vohra end up falling in love.

The show deals with the trials and tribulations of how they navigate their lives.
But what does the show’s storyline remind you of? To the majority of the audiences, it reminds them of Mann ki Awaz Pratigya, which starred Pooja Gor, in a very similar role.
The setting of both the shows is pretty similar. The circumstances of the couple getting married, and by the looks of it, even of them falling in love is also very similar.
So, it raises the question, is this a spiritual sequel? Well, no, it’s not. So, is Ajooni just the same concept with a different cast? By the looks of it, yes! But it is not uncommon in the industry where ideas inspire ideas. And in the world of reduce, reuse and recycle, the same is happening with ideas. But it looks like audiences are not too happy with it.
Ridhi Shukla says, “There were shows like Maryada and Pratigya that have worked wonders. If the content is good, the duration doesn’t matter, but that does not mean that you can just copy them.”
Reena Sharma says, “In the name of content, we have been getting served the same storyline with a different, but similar looking cast.”
Swarna Yadav says, “It’s the same old story of whatever works; just tweak it a little bit and keep rerunning it. That is what’s happening with the show.”
Neha Randhawa says, “You cannot tell the difference between the shows, if you put them on mute and just flip the channels. I think that says a lot.”
Snigdha Sahu says, “Audiences want fresh tales of love and drama. There is a new barrage of actors taking over TV shows.”
The crux of the situation is that the setting is the same. The heroes look the same, and even the girls, all look the same. The shows are exactly similar too. So why should we watch all of them instead of just one; eventually it's just copy and paste.
