MUMBAI:   What started as a revelation in terms of television content and graphics, has now fizzled out after 6 eventual seasons.

Naagin is the magnum opus of television maverick Ekta Kapoor’s vision for fiction and the scale it can go to.

Ekta Kapoor’s Naagin has gone on to become one of the most iconic shows and one that leads the way for a lot of fantasy supernatural shows. Nobody can forget the first season and how it laid the foundation for the show to have 6 successful ones.

The grand scale of fiction, fantasy and nostalgia about using Indian mythologies and folklore, all seemed like well-kept promises until they didn't and fans have been left wondering as to why is the show still on.

The first season definitely promised a new era in fantasy fiction with cast like Mouni Roy, Arjun Bijlani, Adaa Khan, and the return of Sudha Chandran. Naagin was a TRP gold. Taking inspiration from the west, the series gave a fresh cast and storyline every season. Leading roles went to stars like Surbhi Jyoti, Surbhi Chandna and Krishna Mukherjee. At the same time, actors like Hina Khan, Rashami Desai, Jasmin Bhasin and Nia Sharma played pivotal roles as the anti-hero.

The show has quickly fizzled, repurposing storyline of the same revenge plot, dual characters and an eventual win of the righteous.

You would think that the excitement with which the new Naagin for season 6 was announced, the show would see some progress at the least, either in terms of VFX or in terms of the storyline, but it is turns out to be the same story wrapped up in a new packaging. Even the strong casting of popular actors like Tejasswi Prakash, Pratik Sehajpal and Urvashi Dholakia could not save the show. The show is all set to go off-sir and is living a last month’s life on a ventilator. The show has sustained decent TRPs which are still short in comparison to the previous seasons.

Hence, this poses the big question; is it time to retire the series and not come back with another season because fans do think so. They think that they should retire the show while it has some clout left and take a dignified exit.

Neha Sharma says, "They have tried everything in the show apart from actually making sense. I mean, what happened to standards?"

Soma Yadu said, “Even bringing cameos and a new cast is not exciting enough, there is nothing new that the show offers. It has become so boring."

Shilpa Khandelwal says, “I think they should stop before it becomes absolutely insufferable, which is where it's heading now.”

Radhe Kumar says, "Even the VFX is backdated, why should anyone watch the show if they only won’t put effort into making it."

Fans are confused if Ekta Kapoor will wait and pick her new Naagin from the new season of Bigg Boss and do the same thing again and again. Well, whatever the pattern be, fans seem to be in favor of saying goodbye to the show for final now.
