MUMBAI: Recently, when acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal entered the house, she asked the housemates to share their most heartbreaking moments with her.
Arti Singh then spoke about a rape attempt on her by the house help at the age of 13 in her Lucknow house. Arti’s family – her brother Krushna Abhishek and sister-in-law Kashmera Shah are in a devastated state. Kashmera told TOI, 'Krushna and I are very blind-sided by this thing. We heard it for the first time on TV. Arti is in a house were nobody is her own and you feel very vulnerable. I am happy she shared and now we know how to handle it. We will wait for her to come out.'
'The first person she would talk to is her mother or her brother. But I have always told Arti to feel comfortable and talk to me if she ever feels unsafe. This incident happened when she was 13. She wasn’t living with her brother and even I was not in their life. Krushna was in Mumbai. Her mother (aunt, who adopted her) would be a better person to share this or I don’t know if she is even aware of the incident,' she added.
The actress further shared, 'She used to get panic attacks but we didn’t know this was the source. She never told us. Had we known, we would have taken some kind of action. Do you think I am that kind of a woman who would keep quiet? I am more upset than her that she didn’t tell her. But I understand her part as well. There are some things you can’t share and I don’t blame her.'
