MUMBAI: Worship Khanna, who has been a part of shows like Kumkum Bhagya, Meri Doli Mere Angana, and Ishq Subhan Allah and web series like Hello Jee, Cold Lassi and Chicken Masala and is currently seen in the TV show Pati Brahmachari, says he wouldn’t mind stepping into the house himself and believes that the reality show is not just about drama but also the truth.
“I would definitely like to be a part of Bigg Boss, and I do believe that sometimes the narrative of the show is shaped or edited in a certain way to grab the audience’s attention and increase TRP. That’s the job of content creators to present a show in such a way that the audience gets attracted to it. And usually, viewers watch only when there is drama,” he said. For him, the editing and music that can turn a boring moment into high drama are all part of the game.
“Sometimes it may feel like things are manipulated, especially through promos or editing. The way the background music is used or how certain clips are cut and shown can make even a simple moment look like something dramatic. But that’s not wrong. Until and unless a show is packaged well or presented like a good sales pitch, people won’t feel like watching it,” he added.
He also firmly believes that the show doesn’t necessarily favor the more popular contestants. He said, “In fact, if you remember the seasons where both celebrities and commoners were part of the show, the commoners were supported equally and even performed really well. Some even reached the finale or won the show. That’s why I believe the game is more fair than people think.”
And he doesn’t believe that Bigg Boss damages an actor’s image. He stressed that the only people whose image gets damaged are the ones who are living with a fake image in the outside world. Giving Rakhi Sawant’s example — someone who has always been unapologetically herself, he said, “She has done many controversial and crazy things on the show. But still, people know this is who Rakhi Sawant really is, both inside and outside Bigg Boss. She has always been like that, so her image didn’t get damaged. The problem is not the show. The problem is when someone shows one’s personality outside and a completely different one inside the house. That’s when people start judging.”
“If you are the same person everywhere in real life and in the Bigg Boss house, then your image will remain the same. Whether people like it or not, at least it’s your real personality, and that will always be more respected in the long run,” he added, and said that he disagrees that only a good image personality wins the show.
He further said, “Your real image of who you are is what can make you a winner in Bigg Boss. Because that show is not about being good or bad. It’s about being real.”
He also addressed the frequent criticism around contestants faking relationships for attention. He doesn’t deny that it happens, but he sees it as a weak strategy. “It seems like they are trying to copy the kind of bond that Shehnaaz Gill and Sidharth Shukla had because people really loved their connection. But the truth is that bond was real. But what some people do is they try to find a formula or pattern that worked in the previous seasons and then forcefully copy it,” he said.
“This show is not about creating a pattern or following a trend. It’s all about being yourself. You have to go with the flow of the game and react naturally to the situations around you. Do what feels right to you in the moment, not what you think will look right to the world. Maybe you’ll be wrong, maybe you’ll be right, but at least it will be your truth. And that’s what matters the most in Bigg Boss,” Worship ended.
