MUMBAI: If you hail from the locales of Uttar Pradesh or are connected to the state in any way, then the name Navniet Sekera won’t be alien to you. The UP-based IPS officer is a man with several laurels and achievements to his name and is often called the real-life Singham.
TellyChakkar has exclusive information that a web-series based on his life is in the making. Applause Entertainment is helming Navniet’s biopic.
The show is currently in the initial stages. ‘The hunt for a talented actor to essay the titular character is on,’ a reliable source adds. Once the casting is done, the show would soon go on floors within a few months.
For the uninitiated, Navniet Sekera is one of those rare IPS officers from UP who eradicated gangsters from the state. Under his leadership, the infamy mafia don Ramesh Kalia was executed.
He is also called the execution specialist with 60 executions to his credit.
Navniet’s life has been no less than a blockbuster Bollywood movie. The cop’s father was a farmer. While reminiscing his early days in one of the interviews, he said that his father was manhandled by the UP police when he went to file a complaint. That was the day he decided to become a police officer.
He is also a popular name on social media. Earlier this year, his video warning criminals went viral on all platforms.
Once the project is completed, the platform on which it would be streamed would be finalized.
