MUMBAI : Performing stunts is no easy feat, but for Brinda Dahal, who plays Vaishnavi in Chhathi Maiyya Ki Bitiya on Sun Neo, it’s an exhilarating journey of courage and self-discovery. Known for her strong and spirited portrayal of Vaishnavi, Brinda brings the same energy to the challenging stunt sequences on set. Recently, she shared her experience with performing stunts.
Reflecting on her approach to stunts, Brinda said, “When I attempt a stunt for the first time, I feel scared and wonder how I’ll manage it. To calm myself, I always start by chanting, ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya.’ Once I’ve done that, I give it a try. Everyone feels nervous when trying something new, but by the second attempt, I usually feel more confident and realize it’s not as frightening as I initially thought. I’ve also done several aerial acts before, so once I understand the process, I feel more at ease.”
She further expressed her enthusiasm for stunts, saying, “I truly enjoy doing stunts and get very excited about them. When the fight master explains what needs to be done—like jumping or moving in a specific way—I listen carefully and enjoy learning every detail. I find it fulfilling to perform stunts myself without using a body double. It feels incredibly rewarding to complete them on my own, and I love the experience of learning and executing new moves.”
Recalling one particularly challenging stunt, Brinda shared, “There was one where I had to twist and fall from a height. It wasn’t a simple straight fall but a vertical twist, which was quite difficult. Initially, I was scared, especially with everyone, including my co-stars, watching me. I said, ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya,’ gathered my courage, and gave it a try. After the first attempt, I started enjoying the thrill of twisting mid-air and landing correctly. It was scary at first, but once I managed it, I felt relaxed and even more excited to try again. It turned out to be a lot of fun!”
