2017 seems to be promising and progressive for the content cycle in Indian television across GECs.
Web series is on a horse back, racing towards an unknown destination, puffing and huffing in exuberance. But the sudden spring could prove exacerbating for the creatives at channels, suddenly being shrouded by competition from alien quarters.
The existentialists believe that a man performs his best when put under the grind. A metal takes the best shape under a hammer.
Star Plus, the flag-bearer in Indian television, has summoned all its might and matter, burning the midnight oil, racking brains to dole out concepts luring enough for the varied and vast Indian audience.
Among many such ploys, is to send the big stars to battle it out in content coliseum.
Television actors and their popularity tales are legendary, drawing tales of awe and wonder from corners unknown.
In an attempt to exploit such ‘fan bases’, we hear, Star Plus is bringing a show which will be home to some of the most admired actors of tellywood.
The 26 episodes spectacle will have dance as its core theme.
Helmed by BBC Worldwide, we have heard the makers have managed to pull a content coup of sorts.
Yes, youth icon ‘the’ Parth Samthaan (Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan fame), and trendy danseuse Mukti Mohan have been cast to romance each other in the finite series.
Getting groovy already…aren’t we? Wait for more…
Acclaimed actress Gautami Kapoor too is in talks to play Mukti’s mom while Akshay Anand might come in as the father. Laut Aao Trisha fame Nalini Negi will play the negative lead.
Talking about the storyline, the tale will revolve around a mother-daughter relationship. The daughter (Mukti) will be mute by birth who will face challenges to become a dancer. She will toil hard in her quest to fulfil the dreams of her mother, who wanted to take up dance as a profession.
Quite a heart-warming tale…
Sources further maintain that after the final creative discussion and casting process, the team will shoot for the pilot.
When we called Gautami she denied the buzz while Nalini said, “I was in talks but haven’t heard anything from them till now.”
Our efforts to reach Parth, Mukti and producer Myleeta Aga proved futile.
Channel spokesperson remained clueless about the buzz.
This certainly makes for a good story…what say?
