Celebs support government's decision on PUBG ban

Last week, on September 2, the government of India banned 118 Chinese application including popular gaming app PUBG. The ban has come in effect because of the current India-China border dispute. In a statement released, the government of India said that the "decision is a targeted move to ensure safety, security and sovereignty of Indian cyberspace."

PUBG, which is quite a popular app especially amongst the youth of the country, is said to have around 50 million users in India. The ban was welcomed by everyone for the safety and security of the country. Here's how some celebrities praised the move:

Aniruddh Dave: It is neither my area of interest, nor I have any knowledge about it, but still whatever is good for the security of the nation, is good for me.

Jasmin Bhasin: Honestly, I am also someone who was quite addicted to PUBG for a while, during the lockdown. Everything is fine within a limit so as long as you are not getting addicted to it, it was ok. I totally support the government's decision of PUBG ban, and I have heard that the game is banned in a couple of other countries as well. I am sure if such a decision is taken there is a good reason behind it. People used to spend a lot of time playing the game, and even I used to do it during the lockdown, but fortunately, I know how to control my addiction and where to draw a line.

Vijayendra Kumeria: I never played the game, but I have seen and heard of many people who were obsessed with it. In fact they used to even post videos of their games on YouTube as well. It was a total waste of time and instead of spending hours on the game, the youth should instead focus on productive things. I think it was a waste of time. The youth should instead focus on productive things. I completely support the government's decision of the ban. Luckily, I am not too fond of games, so I never got addicted to any game.

Rishina Kandhari: Honestly, I have no idea about PUBG. Nobody around me played the game, but I have heard that a lot of people were addicted to it. I support the ban, anything for the security of our country. I used to play a game called Temple Run, but it was never an addiction, whenever I had time or I was free, then I would play it, otherwise I am not that into games.

Angad Hasija: Thank God, I don't have any addiction of PUBG or any other game. My younger brother was addicted to this game, and its so good that it has been banned now. I totally stand by the government's decision of the ban. I actually used to get very irritated whenever I saw people playing this game.

Mou Das: I welcome this ban amidst the Indo-China tensions, which is the primary reason for these apps to be banned. I have a personal take to it as well. I have seen children around me playing games like these all day long, especially PUBG. Apart from the health hazard, there are lot many reasons like mood swings, temperament issues, emotional breakdown so on and so forth. I believe these games and apps bring loneliness and depressions to the users especially because they lose track of time and social bindings. These games are known to be so addictive that many players have chosen playing games over friends and family. Thankfully, I have been too busy with my work and planning of upcoming projects that I can hardly get time to play any game. Even if I do get any free time, I would rather go to a beachside or on a hilltop and enjoy nature to its best.

Shamin Mannan: Any kind of addiction is bad, so in that way, I think it’s good that PUBG is banned and I support the government's decision. I hope people will focus on better things now and this will result in productivity and mindfulness. I am not addicted to any game or app as such, but yes once in a while I love playing Golf Clash and What the Golf, as I love golf. Initially, I was quite hooked on to these two games, but slowly I realised it really made my day shorter and less productive. Now I use that extra time for reading and painting instead.

Mohit Malhotra: I have reading about the India-China border dispute and I completely support the ban, especially because of the security and safety of the nation. I don't play games, and have never been addicted to one, but I have seen a lot of people playing PUBG wherever they feel like. So this ban is good for the youth, now they can concentrate on productive things.

Amal Sehrawat: I welcome the government's decision. I have never played PUBG, though a lot of my friends are big fans of the game and addicted to it. I am sure they are going to miss it a lot but am happy that now they will have more time to spend with friends in the real-world. I am not addicted to any game as I prefer real life games over virtual games.

Vikas Sethi: I think the government's decision on the ban of PUBG is good. I was genuinely concerned about so many people wasting so much precious time on such addictions. I am not addicted to any game, but I enjoy this simple game called 4 pictures and 1 word.

Avinash Mukherjee: I am in favour of the government's decision of ban on PUBG. I was addicted to the game and used to play it from 2 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. everyday during the lockdown, but since the shoots started I hardly got any time to play it. So, it's all good.

Dhruvee Haldankar: Anything for the pride of one's own country. We all know about the dispute with China and we should all contribute in what ever manner we can. Parting ways with the most addictive game amongst young adults is a good deed they did for India. I am not addicted to any game but my personal favorite is ludo.

Rajit Dev: According to me if you ask any app which is dangerous for our country should be banned. I totally support this initiative. I’m also a big fan of video games, but I’ve never played PUBG. I’ve seen a lot of youth who were addicted to the game, and the decision must have been a relief for their family. I also don’t blame anyone for playing a game coz there are few kids who are really good at it and they go on to win championships. There are a lot of YouTubers who stream online with PUBG. So their income has stopped. Everything has a good and bad effect. But if you ask me then my country is first. I’m not addicted to games as I hardly get time to sit and play. But I do love to play FIFA on playstation whenever I get time with my friends. And we'll, there’s a new game called FAU-G now.

Savi Thakur: Yes, the news of ban on PUBG came like a disaster for so many of us, even I loved this game as it helped me a lot in this pandemic. There was nothing else to do, so I started playing it. It’s a cool game you can talk and play with your friends and loved ones but important thing is you should not get addicted to anything, whether it’s PUBG or any other game, because according to me addiction of anything is bad. I respect the decision of our goverment because nation comes first. There are a lot of other games, people can follow them, but I think outdoor games are more important for everyone rather than mobile and pc games. The game I love the most is playing FIFA on PlayStation but I don't let myself become addicted to any virtual game.

Shilpa Raizada: I never played PUBG in my life and I was not interested in it also. But I support the government's decision. I have learnt in life that we should not get addicted to anything. Playing games is not possible for me because I hate being on my mobile for long, even my friends call me instead of sending whatsapp messages, even they know I don’t use cellphone very much. I believe in living in the present.

Urvashi Upadhyay Sharle: It is a good news that PUBG is banned for the sake of our country. This type of game corrupts everyone's mind, especially children’s mind and children are future of our country and this game was destroying them. I stopped buying Chinese products since long, I would ask the shopkeeper before purchasing that it should be made in India. Even my kids don't play these type of games and even they don’t buy Chinese products. Government has taken a very good step.
