The VJ's have by far been the most envied species on television; getting paid for yapping away to glory and for traveling across the globe which seems like a paid vacation for many. The VJ's have by far been the most envied species on television; getting paid for yapping away to glory and for traveling across the globe which seems like a paid vacation for many. Channel [V] held an intensive crash course recently, wherein eight finalists of the VJ Freshers batch of 2006, spent a week in Goa and were put to the test leading up to the selection of the final winners.
At the convocation ceremony held recently in suburban Mumbai, the channel recognised Neil Bhoopalam from Mumbai and Tanveer Gill from Delhi as the winners of the VJ fresher.
Both the winners who have been appointed as Channel [V]'s VJ's will get to work with the best and be the next best thing on television. The seven finalists who had participated in the final test before a faculty comprising of Ranvir Sheorey, Vinay Pathak , ad man Prahlad Kakkar and Amar K Deb, Head Honcho, Channel[V] besides people from the music industry.
"I have worked very hard for this title. I ate a lot of fish and spend time observing people's reaction when they trip and fall besides I also watched a lot of Channel V's VJ's," exclaims an overjoyed Neil Bhoopalam.
While Tanveer Gill's dream of becoming a VJ has come true. "I would like to thank my teachers who supported and guided me through my journey specially Ranvir, Vinay and the VJ's. I still can't believe that I've won the competition," says the Delhi boy.
Commenting on the quest for a VJ Fresher, Amar K Deb added "Our channel has always shaped the best students like Sophia Haque, Meghana Reddy, Laila Rouss, Ranvir Shourie, Pia Rai Choudhary and many more. And this year as well, our teachers have nurtured the best and we would like to wish Neil and Tanveer all the very best as they are set to make every one sit up and take notice." Here's hoping the channel gets to churn out a few more of those talent pots soon.
