MUMBAI : Ali Baba: Dastaan-E-Kabul is a fantasy television series based on the Arabian Nights character Ali Baba. It is produced by Alind Srivastava and Nissar Parvez under Peninsula Pictures, it stars Sheezan Mohammed Khan, Tunisha Sharma, Karthik Jayaram, and Sayantani Ghosh. It premiered in August 2022 on Sony SAB.
The series follows the life of an orphan Alibaba, from the Mamuli Gali of Kabul, and the challenges he faces while he tries to protect and take care of five other orphan children.
Tunisha Sharma portrays the character of Shehzaadi Mariam, Princess of Kabul and Ali Baba's love interest. But before Tunisha was locked in for the role, there were other actresses approached for the role.

Reem Shaikh
Reem Sameer Shaikh’s most notable work includes Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha, Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat, Tujhse Hai Raabta, Gul Makai, and Fanaa: Ishq Mein Marjawan. She was busy with another show at the moment and so could not be a part of Ali Baba: Dastaan-E-Kabul.
Jannat Zubair
Jannat Zubair Rahmani is best known for portraying Kashi in Kashi – Ab Na Rahe Tera Kagaz Kora, Phulwa in Phulwa, and Pankti in Tu Aashiqui. She was not available at the moment to do a TV show so could not be a part of the show Ali Baba : Dastaan-E-Kabul.
Avneet Kaur
Avneet Kaur is known for portraying Charumati in Chandra Nandini and Princess Yasmine in Aladdin – Naam Toh Suna Hoga. She was offered the role and she even liked it a lot. But for some reason, she did not go ahead with Ali Baba: Dastaan-E-Kabul
Anushka Sen
Anushka Sen is known for portraying the role of Meher in the children's fantasy show, Baal Veer. She has also played Manikarnika Rao/Rani Lakshmi Bai in the Indian historical drama television series Jhansi Ki Rani. She was not available at the time and did not wish to do television shows so did not become a part of Ali Baba: Dastaan-E-Kabul.
Roshni Walia
Roshni Walia began her career with television advertisements and first acted in the television show Main Lakshmi Tere Aangan Ki. She is also known for her work in Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap as Maharani Ajabde and Tara Mane in Tara From Satara on Sony TV. She was busy with another show at the time so could not become a part of Ali Baba: Dastaan-E-Kabul.
