SAB TV is all set to bring some changes in its programming schedule. Why do we say so? Read on. Now, the channel is all set to launch DJ’s A Creative Unit’s new show I Love India, starring Imran Khan, from 20 February 2012 at the 8pm slot. Okay, that’s great news. But I Love India coming at the 8pm Slot puts the other show on the channel, Chintu Chinky Aur Ek Badi Si Love Story in a fix. Why? Because currently Chintu Chinky… is airing at the 8pm slot. This means that the show starring Rajesh Kumar and Divyanka Tripathi as leads might face the axe.
“The slice of life concept till now did not work (the show had stagnated with 0.5 TVR) and viewers wanted more humour. So last month, we changed the concept of the show,” informs the co-producer of the soap, J D Majethia of Hats Off Productions. The other producer is Three Cheers Productions led by the lead actor of the show, Rajesh Kumar.
He continues, “We sent Chintu’s family to Uganda and made Chintu and Chinki take care of three badmaash kids. This humour angle worked and within a week the ratings shot up. In one episode TRPs touched even 1 TVR.”
So, what’s the future of the serial? “With I Love My India coming at 8 pm, the channel now has only two options. Chintu Chinky… will either be shifted to the vacant 7.30pm slot or will be taken off air.
However, we are hopeful that the channel officials will also like the new changes we have incorporated in the storyline and decide to retain it. The final decision will be taken by next week after taking into account the ratings,” JD goes on to say.
Female lead, Divyanka Tripathi aka Chinky also feels that the channel should give them some more time to “deliver with the new changes.”
Well, we hope Chintu Chinky ki kahaani doesn’t end here!!!
