"Choosy" Abhaas Mehta turns down two show offers

Abhaas Mehta
Sometime ago Abhaas Mehta was in news for walking out of Zee TV’s Badalte Rishton Ki Dastaan (Ravi Ojha Productions). This was obviously a result of unhappiness that surrounded the actor because of his character’s “creative limitations”. Hence, the actor is being way too cautious this time around to give a nod to any other project. And Mr Choosy has already gone on to say “no” to two show offers. As per a reliable source, the artiste was offered Star Plus’ Meri Bhabhi and Colors’ Sanskaar- Dharohar Apnon Ki, but he refused to play “important” characters in both these shows. We contacted Abhaas to understand the reasons for his refusals to which he said, “My reason to turn down Meri Bhabhi was very clear; they had offered me a character who was ten years older than my age. That meant that I would have to play a 35 year old man and that’s not what I was looking for. It is besides the point that Meri Bhabhi is a very good show and it’s been doing extremely well.” “Coming to Sanskaar…, I had to decline it as I did not like the manner in which the offer came to me. They just told me that it was a negative character that they were looking forward to see me playing. Nothing else.” So what is it that you’re looking forward to? “The negative character that I played in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon (Star Plus) left me on a high. And I know that I will not get to play a character of that caliber this soon. But I am looking forward to something similar to that as I am into the business of daily soaps and since I would be playing that character every day, I wouldn’t get bored of it.” Talking about his last show …Dastaan, Abhaas averred, “I had taken up the show as I was getting to play my age. Apart from that, I loved the character I was playing. But, sadly it did not grow later in the story.” We wish you all the luck… Abhaas!!!
