MUMBAI: CID was indeed a legendary Indian television show, holding a special place in the history of Indian entertainment.
It aired on Sony TV from January 21, 1998, to October 27, 2018, making it one of the longest-running scripted TV shows in India, with an impressive 20-year run.
The show followed the investigative journeys of a team of detectives from the Crime Investigation Department, led by the iconic ACP Pradyuman, played by Shivaji Satam.
CID is a successful show with its gripping storylines, unique blend of crime and drama, and memorable catch phrases like ACP Pradyuman's "Kuch toh gadbad hai." has made it an iconic show on television.
The camaraderie between the characters, including Inspector Abhijeet and Daya, along with the iconic "Daya, darwaza tod do!" moments, became a pop-culture phenomenon.
Now the show is back with Season 2 and the fans were super excited and gave this season a thumbs up as the show opened with good numbers.
TellyChakkar exclusively got in touch with Aditya Srivastav and Dayanand Shetty and asked them about the incomplete tracks in the show and whether they would be completed this season.
The audience also liked the romance and the flirting between Daya-Shreya and Abhijeet- Shreya which was incomplete. Will that be shown in this season?
Aditya Srivastav (Abhijeet) : Since the writers choose what should and shouldn't be shown, we have no say in the show. Since we returned in Season 2, crime and action stories seem to be the main focus, so let's establish ourselves there first. Later on, we can see; you never know when the story line can return.
Dayanand Shetty ( Daya): All of this is up to the show's writers; what they write will be seen by the public, but it also depends on fan desire. The writers will reclaim this track if the audience would demand. Fans continue to leave comments about what they would like to see, and if the authors think they can bring it back, they will. For the time being, though, we will focus on our job, and this secondary item will be displayed later. Personal stories undoubtedly work, but we will get there gradually.
Will the story of Eye Gang be completed in this season?
The story telling of the show is quite varied and is always changing. Sometimes tied to action or forensics, and it was an incomplete story that we couldn't finish in the previous episode. Comments do appear, but it is up to the show's creators; it is similar to demand and supply. If the audience demands it, the creators will resurrect that story and it will come to conclusion.
Well, no doubt that CID is a cult show. Daya, ACP Praduman and Abhijeet are characters that have become iconic.
