MUMBAI: Actor Gaurav Khanna is currently revelling in well-deserved glory after being crowned the winner of the inaugural Celebrity MasterChef title.
With an impressive blend of culinary creativity and unwavering dedication, Gaurav managed to win over the judges and audience alike, emerging triumphant in a high-pressure finale that showcased his flair in the kitchen.
Throughout the competition, Gaurav consistently impressed the panel with his bold experimentation with flavours and immaculate plating. Reflecting on his journey to victory, he credited sheer determination and relentless effort as the key ingredients behind his success.
In a candid conversation following his win, Gaurav took a nostalgic trip down memory lane, reminiscing about his time on the sets of the iconic crime series CID. With a chuckle, he revealed that during his stint on the show, he often found himself indulging in food more than acting.

“The shoot location for CID was initially just beneath my house – Dr Salunkhe’s lab was right next to my building wall. That’s actually why I took up the role,” Gaurav admitted light-heartedly. “But soon after, the shoot shifted to multiple locations that were quite far from my place!”
He went on to share some humorous behind-the-scenes anecdotes. “On most sets, actors usually ask for scripts and dialogues first. But on CID, the first question on everyone’s lips was always – ‘What’s for lunch?’ The whole team were food lovers. I remember Abhijeet sir once telling me, ‘Mind your weight on this show – it’s easy to gain with all the food around!’”
One of his fondest memories involves a sweet gesture from CID lead Shivaji Satam, who played ACP Pradyuman. “Shivaji sir used to bring a special lassi just for me – a mix of sugar and salt that most would run away from,” Gaurav shared fondly. “He’d have his lunch and then take a nap, but he always saved a lassi for me. He’d tell the AD, ‘Keep this for Gaurav, he’ll have it once he’s done shooting.’ I truly had a wonderful time on that set.”
There’s no doubt that Gaurav left a lasting impression on the CID team and fans alike. His journey from solving crimes on screen to conquering the kitchen off-screen is a testament to his versatility and charm – and he’s certainly still fondly remembered by the CID family.
