After rock n’ roll, the L’iL Champs go on to woo viewers attired in casual chic with plenty of gold jewellery in an episode that celebrates the music of Bappi Lahiri. Judging the series of L’iL Champs, Bappi Lahiri has endeared himself with the contestants. One cannot miss him as he plays the calm elder guide to the finalists and passes his judgements, taking care not to upset the kids. Bappi, like Alka Yagnik and Abhijeet, is a keen observer even when the kids rehearse before the shoot. He is always seen giving them valuable tips to improve their performances. The 4th Aug theme on the show is Bappi Lahiri’s special songs. Here, Bappi da (as he is affectionately called by all on the sets) invited all the contestants to his Juhu home to give them his choice of songs. He heard out each child sing and than decided a song that befits their scales and pitch. He rehearsed the songs individually with them and helped them get the notes right. The added attraction on the Friday episode is when all the nine participants are dressed up to resemble the veteran singer, complete with loads of jewellery. “Apart from interacting with all the judges on the sets, such one on one interaction with Bappi da is very beneficial for the kids. The exposure they get watching him perform and the tips they learn from him are priceless lessons for these kids,” says director Gajendrra Siingh.
