The entire film and TV industry is uniting and voicing in support of Aamir Khan's popular show Satyamev Jayate (Star Plus). Latest entrant in this bandwagon is veteran TV and film actor Dalip Tahil. Dalip has been a part of the TV scene over years now (renowned for his performances in Buniyaad (1987) and The Sword of Tipu Sultan (1990). He has also acted in over 100 movies and his recent outings include Ra.One and Azaan.
Talking about Satyamev Jayate, 61 year old Dalip shares, "It is absolutely fantastic as Aamir is tackling issues which are of great concern to an average Indian. I wish there was more socially relevant television around. These issues need to be looked at with greater depth."
But what Aamir is trying to say is already known by the masses? "Look he may not solve all the problems but his presence on television does bring more awareness on the subject," feels Dalip who has shared screen space with Aamir in movies like Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988).
Point out the fact that the medical community is up in arms against Aamir for painting the entire doctor fraternity in bad light and Dalip says, "Aamir did not say that all doctors are bad. They may say what they want but the truth is that there are many cases of medical negligence and plus, there is no major action taken against doctors who are not properly qualified to practice medicine."
At the moment, Dalip is shooting for Bhag Milkha Bhag where he plays the role of Jawaharlal Nehru. "It is a matter of great pride to play India’s first independent Prime Minister. Indian cinema has really evolved over the years and today different kinds of concepts are accepted by the audience. I am sure this biopic on India's greatest athlete will be well appreciated as well."
Keep up the good work, Dalip!!!
