KOLKATA: A new member has joined the cast of SUN Bangla’s socio mythological show Mahatirtha Kalighat. Debesh Roy Chowdhury has joined the team. Theveteran actor is essaying the character of Brahmananda. Speaking about the character, Debesh said in a statement to the media, 'For an actor, every role is challenging.
I was happy that after a long time, I am working for a television show.' About the show, he said, 'Mahatirtha Kalighat is about Uma, a simple five-year-old village girl who lives with her parents. Uma is a blessed child and chosen by Goddess Kali at the time of her birth to spread the greatness of Kali among the common people.
Uma’s journey reveals the conflict of two different cults namely, the Vaishnav and the Shakto.
And through many dramatic ups and downs, it shows how people of Bengal realized the true nature of Maa Kali and starts worshiping her as their mother.' Produced by Bangla Talkies, the Bengali show centers around Uma, who has the blessings of Goddess Kali to overcome the obstacles that come her way, and the arrival of the character of Brahmananda will spark of a new set of events.
