Doing television is like enjoying a holiday - Riteish Deshmukh

Riteish Deshmukh
Well-known Bollywood film star Riteish Deshmukh is thoroughly enjoying judging Star Plus’ dance reality show India’s Dancing Superstar. Talking about his experience as judge on the show, the actor said, “It was great fun. Doing television is like enjoying a holiday, where you are paid to watch great performances. There is no pressure as you do not have to look good or remember any lines. You just have to be yourself.” Riteish who was super impressed by the level of dance that he saw on stage remarked, “I was not even aware of some of the dance forms like robotic. Normally we only hear of jazz, rock etc. India is a real talented country with people coming from small towns. These awesome dancers are picking up their skills just from checking out YouTube videos. I had even said this live on the show that this video sharing site is a ‘Dronacharya’ for the modern Indian generation.” Coming to his co-judges, Riteish stated, “I had heard about Ashley Lobo, but had not met him. Geeta Kapoor and I have worked together in films. Since Ashley’s Hindi was bad, we would take digs at him which he took it quite sportingly. I think the audiences enjoyed our banter as it made the entire experience less serious.” Here Riteish repeated what he said at the show’s launch press conference. “Since I am not a trained dancer, I am not here to mark the contestants on technical parameters, that is Ashley and Geeta’s job. I am here to represent the aam janta who just want to be entertained. At the same time after doing 30 odd films, I am equipped enough to at least know when the beat goes wrong. My basic criteria is did your act hold my attention or not.” In closing the talented actor did not want to comment on the apparently slightly lower TRPs the show. “I have never understood ratings. That is the channel’s business. Having said this, if they are talking on terms of a second season it must have been a profitable venture for them… right.” We hope you are seen more on the idiot box, Riteish!!!
