MUMBAI: Amidst the lockdown period, here’s some good news for all the TV audience.
Well, epic TV shows Ramayan and Mahabharat may come back on the small screens. The shows based on India's great mythology stories were the most famous shows ever made and now, report has it that they might come back on the small screens. Shashi Kapoor, CEO of Prasar Bharati, recently replied to a tweet saying that the broadcasters are in talks with the right holders of the show to avail the rights to re-run these shows on Doordarshan. Replying to a tweet demanding re-runs of the show, Shashi Kapoor tweeted, "Yes we are working on the same with the Rights Holders. Will update shortly. Stay tuned." Now, when a fan demanded an update on the same, he replied saying, "Hopeful of sharing schedule by end of day today. Technical and Logistics issues being worked out."
From the time our honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced 21 days lockdown due to coronavirus, fans have been demanding the return of these shows on Twitter. A social media user wrote, "Dear @narendramodi ji @PrakashJavdekar ji Please consider asking DD, and advising other channels, to telecast Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana and B R Chopra's Mahabharata daily. Perhaps two episodes a day each. They acted as magnets in quarantining people back then. They still can."
