MUMBAI: Television queen Ekta Kapoor may be ready to strike another chord of nostalgia with fans of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi after its grand launch of the second season which kickstarts from July 29. With the buzz already building around the revival of the cult daily soap, speculation is now swirling that Ekta is now planning a reprise version of the iconic title track, possibly featuring some of Bollywood’s biggest playback singers.
The original track, with Smriti Irani smiling against a backdrop of Indian family drama, remains etched in the memories of Indian audiences. Now, insiders suggest that Kapoor is aiming to recreate that same emotional pull, this time with a fresh twist and perhaps even a chart-worthy update.
Names like Shreya Ghoshal, Arijit Singh, and Sonu Nigam have been unofficially linked to the project, though no confirmations have come from Balaji Telefilms as yet.
A source close to the music production circle hinted, “There have been early conversations with top singers. Ekta wants voices that can resonate with Gen Z while still honoring the sentimentality of the original track.”
This comes hot on the heels of Ekta’s own statement at a press interaction earlier this year, where she confirmed, “I’m re-making the biggest show I ever made,” adding that the revival would blend tradition with contemporary storytelling.
While we await an official announcement, one thing is clear: if this musical revival materializes, it won’t just be a TV comeback, it’ll be an emotional, melodious journey back in time for millions of fans.
