Ekta Tiwari: The real change has come in technology, presentation, understanding, and adaptation of a project

MUMBAI: Actress Ekta Tiwari, who is currently seen as Flower in Gudiya Rani, says that while all mediums require the same amount of hard work, the execution of projects, and the speed at which projects are doled out have changed. She adds that she makes sure to choose projects which she believes in rather than the medium.

“Emoting any emotion for any project, character, or platform is entirely dependent on my mastery of the craft. The real change, or rather upgradation, has been in technology, presentation, understanding, and adaptation. The theory of "under the line and above the top" isn't new. A realistic approach and presentation aren't new either. The only change is the speed—from pre-production to post, from release to determining hits and flops,” she says.

She adds, “My choices are based on my ideology, my comfort, my preferences, and my ease. Being an adventurous and creative soul, I love and accept challenges, but only under my own terms. Just because everyone is doing something doesn't mean I will. I’m not part of any rat race.”

People feel that OTT platforms offer more creative freedom for actors and creators compared to traditional film and TV. Talking about the same, she says, “As creators, we can't deliver anything harmful to society under the guise of creativity. It's our moral responsibility. Our medium is meant to recreate with suggestive shots and content, delivering a reasonable reality. We can't show actual violence, murder, rape, or intimate scenes in the name of creative freedom. We live in a Gen Z era where kids have access to free data, Wi-Fi, and the latest mobile handsets, which makes us even more responsible. We need to draw a line regarding what is appropriate for different age groups and the right time for certain content.”
