MUMBAI: Aishwarya Raj Bhakuni is best known for her roles in serials like Kasam Teri Pyaar Ki and Gupta Brothers.
Currently, the actress is grabbing the headlines for her role in the Bollywood movie Samrat Prithviraj. She worked alongside Akshay Kumar. The film was produced by Yash Raj movies.
TellyChakkar got in touch with the actress and asked her about her view on social media and the experience of working with Akshay Kumar.
What's your take on social media? Do you think it’s a curse or a boon for an actor?
It’s a good way to connect with fans, but the drawback is that the casting directors cast actors as per their followers, which is quite disappointing. At times, without even auditioning, they get selected, which is disheartening and unfair. There are times I have seen how some TikTokers who don’t know acting are also get selected after buying followers. I just hope this changes someday.
Do you think that the web world is going to take over TV and Bollywood?
I don’t think the digital business will take over Bollywood, as during the weekends, families like to go out and have a good time at the theatre, and that culture won’t die soon. As far as television is concerned TV actors have taken over the family audience as that’s the only medium wherein the entire family can watch together.
How did you bag the movie Prithviraj?
I got a call from the casting department, went for an audition and interview, and was finalized.
Any challenges you faced while shooting a mythological movie?
The only challenge I faced was the language and shooting in heavy costumes, but that was also a lot of fun.
How was it working with Akshay Kumar?
The experience was lovely and unreal, and since he is my favourite actor, it was like a dream come true. He was so sweet and humble and was playing pranks on the sets.
