MUMBAI: Anupamaa fame Alpana Buch is an Indian television actress who has been part of the acting industry for three decades now. She has been part of shows like Saraswatichandra, Baal Veer, Papad Pol. Apart from this, she has also worked in the Gujarati film industry.
Recently, she has once again gained immense popularity with her role as Leela Shah aka Baa on the top show Anupamaa. The audience has loved her work as Leela.
According to the latest plot, Vanraj warns Anupama to keep his family away from this fight of justice for Dimple and he requests Pakhi to come and stay in the Shah house for a few days. Anupama and her gang begin their fight and protest against the goon.
Tellychakkar recently got in touch with the actress and got to know interesting insights about how she feels about the track and her character.
From being a sister, wife, mother, mother in law, there has been a complete journey for Leela. What do you have to say about the journey of your character?
“I am very lucky that I got to experience and grow with so many relationships. Even today, when people see me, they call me “Baa”. It is a character that is known by a mass audience now. People somehow feel and connect with her. They somewhere feel that she is right because Baa represents a certain age group which still has the same mindset as hers. For them, Baa will always be nice but the current generation feels irritated by me. I feel so lucky that I got to explore all shades and even got the reactions of different age groups.”
The TRPs have been the highest ever since the show began. Do you feel a sense of pressure that you need to maintain that?
“Yes, absolutely. As an actor and as a team, that is bound to happen and we wish to keep it that way. This pressure is not just for the actors, it is for everyone who is a part of Anupamaa and everyone works with that pressure. But that is exactly the team work that the audience is able to see on-screen. It has never happened that with any episode, be it writing wise or performance, that we leave it loose.”
Pakhi and Adhik went and got married without the consent of everyone. These days kids are very impulsive. What is your take or advice on such matters?
“As far as I know about today’s generation, I feel Pakhi is very immature. Today’s kids are very focussed and they know what to do. They are aware that they need to work and earn money so relationships take a second place for them. So I feel it is the opposite with Pakhi. I feel really happy about it too that they feel work comes first and then relationships. They are also very mature and practical about relationships. Women spend their whole lives committing to their better halves but kids these days are not like that.”
