MUMBAI: Veteran actor Tej Sapru has had one of the longest and most lustrous careers spanning over 43 years, where he has been a part of almost 300 films panning over all regional forms.
From playing the grey-shade antagonists to now playing the role of a madcap father, Mr. Sapru has done it all.
Tej Sapru has been seen in many Bollywood movies like Baaghi, Billa No. 786, Khatron Ke Khiladi, and a few others. He has worked in the television shows like Qubool Hai, Saat Phere, Tumhari Pakhi, Yahaaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli, Palampur Express and so many more.
Tej Sapru is currently seen in the show Harphoul Mohin on Colors, playing the role of Balwant Choudhary.
The show is going off-air and TellyChakkar recently got in touch with him to discuss it.
The news is very disappointing for the fans, how are feeling about the show going off-air?
It is disappointing for us as well. Of all the shows that I have down before this, none of them have ended before being on air for a year or more. When I heard the script, I thought that the show had tremendous potential, and it would do wonders as well. Of course, I feel bad for everybody. We spent almost 7 months together with everyone, from the creatives to the technicians and we just got to know that the show is wrapping up and you know it's a bad feeling but it happens.
The news was were sudden and fans have been wondering about what was the reaction of the cast? What was the environment on the set like?
When we heard the news, there was gloominess. Everybody is a grown-up and they know that these things happen. Maybe people did not like the show, or the statistics were not good enough. This show started with a 1.2 on the TRP scale. We are disappointed for sure but we understand. I am disappointed because after ages I was doing a proper negative character.
What will you miss about your character the most?
This was a totally deadly character and I wish I could have played it more. It was quite an extreme role, one of the most extremes that I have played in Indian Television. I had never done anything like it, on television atleast. Yes, I am going to miss it because it had a different flavor, terror, and sometimes in the middle of the most intense scenes, he would do something comical. I really enjoyed myself when I was doing this character, but things do come to an end.
Tej Sapru is currently seen in Harphoul Mohini as Balwant Choudhary on Colors TV, also starring Zebby Singh and Shagun Sharma.
