But it was his roles as Aryan in Imlie that was the turning point. Now, after biding adieu to the show a little while ago, the actor is all set to start a new journey with the show Dharampatni, produced by Ekta Kapoor. The show will air on Colors and stars Kritika Singh in the lead, along with Akash Jagga, Gurpreet Bedi, Ashish Trivedi, Vijay Badlaani and Utkarsha Naik.

TellyChakkar got in touch with the actor to talk about his new show and his character.

You are embarking on a new journey, what can you tell us about your character?

I play the role of Ravi Randhawa, who is a boy that hails from Chandigarh. He has a family business and is a business tycoon himself. He runs his own businesses and sub-businesses with his sister and is very supportive of her. He is a feminist, who is a very fun-loving guy and enjoys life. He is very easy-going and wants to keep everyone happy. If an employee is sick, he dances with them, just to make them feel good. The one girl that can shut him up is Kirti and whenever he is in front of her, he is a nervous mess. Sometimes, he talks a lot and sometimes, he just does not. But he enjoys this nervousness because Kirti is someone with whom he can be vulnerable and that is a beautiful camaraderie that both of them have.

Is there any similarity between you and the character, especially when you first heard about the character?

There are more similarities with this character than my previous work. Ravi is a lot more similar to how fun-loving he is and keeping it simple is what I like. I don’t like complications. Ravi also is a similar kind of a guy. If I fall in love with someone, I will do it devotedly and completely and will not expect anything in return. I will just do it for myself and I will love her with all of my heart, and that is also what Ravi does. In real life, I am not that expressive and sometimes I am afraid to show emotions. Ravi is also like that with Kirti. I am excited because I get to play a character apart from the mould of intensity. He is a happy guy who is free and not really worked up about a lot of things.

We are curious to know if it was easy for you to switch from the character of Aryan of Imlie to this?

It certainly can’t be a cakewalk, because you have lived that for so long. But, it is a matter of switching on and off. I had a beautiful journey with Aryan Singh Rathore. I had to switch it off and I did it. If I hadn’t, I would have carried it and I would have taken it with me. It would have been difficult to live with myself because I lived with that for too long and I really wanted to do something more fun. To be honest, when I got this, I had to switch that off, but an actor can never let go a character truly, because it stays with you somewhere deep within, it always stays there and you learn to live with it and you move forward.

Fans are really excited to see Fahmaan in the role of Ravi Randhawa and are excited about this show's journey.
