MUMBAI: Ishaan Dhawan is gearing up for his upcoming show Gud Se Meetha Ishq which will be hitting the small screens next week.

The actor will be playing the lead role of Neel in the show and is paired opposite actress Pankhuri Awasthy.

Before Gud Se Meetha Ishq, Ishaan has starred in shows like Bebaakee and Zindagi Mere Ghar Aana.

As the show's release date inches closer, TellyChakkar got in touch with Ishaan who spoke about his character in the show and much more.

What made you say yes to this role? How similar is your character to you?

My character's name is Neel Khurana. My role is quite similar to me in real life. There were several reasons for me to say yes to this role. When you know that the character is quite similar to you, you end up exploring several things about yourself. I was quite excited as it is a love story. This is my first show as a lead. Neel is a very courageous and happy-go-lucky guy. He is also a very family-oriented guy and always fights for right and wrong. Neel loves photography and so do I. I didn't think much before saying yes to the role. I always listen to my heart.

How is your bonding with your co-stars?

All of them are really great. They are very supportive and cooperative. I love working with them. When you are away from home for work for so many hours, you need a company that makes you feel good. I look forward to going to work every day.

Do you wish to be a part of any reality show?

No, I don't wish to be a part of any reality show. I don't want to demean any of such shows. They all are great. But you should know what you are good at. I don't feel I am suitable for any reality shows. I would only like to be an actor.
