MUMBAI: The Indian television industry has a lot of great actors and actresses who have established a name for themselves over the years.
Jiya Shankar is one of them who has been a part of the TV industry for a very long time now.
The actress has several hit TV shows to her credit. Jiya is popularly known for her role as Ira aka Iravati in &TV's show Meri Hanikarak Biwi.
Apart from that, Jiya has worked in several shows like Love By Chance, Gumrah: End of Innocence, Twist Wala Love, Queens Hai Hum, Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya among others.
Jiya was last seen in SAB TV's show Kaatelal & Sons where she played the lead role.
The show went off-air on 27th August.
TellyChakkar got in touch with Jiya who spoke in length about what she has been up to these days post Kaatelal and Sons went off-air, her idea of collaborating with co-star Paras Arora and much more.
On being asked what kind of roles she is looking forward to in the future, Jiya said, ''Life has been quite surprising so now, I am expecting roles which are out of my comfort zone. All my characters were out of my comfort zone and I didn't expect that I would be able to pull them off. It happened and I did it very well and did justice. People loved it. I don't want to hop on to something and wait for the right opportunity that will excite me first.''
The actress also revealed that she would love to try her hand at OTT. However, if she doesn't get anything exciting, she feels that television is good for her and she is getting offers.
Further, when we asked about how much she is missing co-star Paras Arora, she said, ''I have been missing him for a very long time as he quit the show long ago. I will always look for another opportunity to work with him again. It will be amazing. I am sure that our jodi will work. If the storyline is good, I am sure that it will work, if it is me and Paras. Our chemistry works volumes on screen. It is so easy to work with him. We complement each other and look good with each other.''
Jiya has achieved a lot in her long career span and is hoping to have a brighter future.
When asked if she ever thought about having alternate career options as a backup, she said, ''I used to always think about what else could I do apart from acting. But I think one person can't do two things at the same time. For me, acting was new and it was not possible for me to try out a new thing and start from scratch. I focused on my acting thing. But I have developed interests in a lot of things. I will definitely have a clothing line of my own. I have thought about it for a very long time and I wish it happens soon.''
Well said, Jiya!
