We got in touch with the actor to know about his celebrated journey in television and his immense popularity in the Hindi and Gujarati industry. Anand had some noteworthy answers for fans.
Which was your first show on TV? What made you shift to Hindi TV from Gujarati Cinema?
I had initiated Gujarati films doing main leads in 1997, I had almost done 11 films as lead at that time. After that, I entered the TV industry, began my acting career with Ghar Jamai, which starred Satish Kaushik, Madhavan, Mandira Bedi, and so on. One after the other Hindi projects started pouring in. On the other hand, Gujarati films also took a dip. So I was quite settled with Hindi TV. I was getting offers in Gujarati Cinema too but they weren't that alluring so I waited for the best one to come by. Apart from acting on the TV, Swati, my wife and I write as well. So we continued being a part of both genres.
What has TV been to you with performing such beautiful roles?
TV has been everything to me, I call myself fortunate to have this wonderful experience. I began TV at a very young age. There were no GECs earlier, only Doordarshan. I was working with good producers and had some great characters to play. After a while, I wasn't offered meaty roles for some time so I began to write with my wife. The writing was going well; the theatre was going well simultaneously. We wrote screenplay for Roar- Tigers of Sunderbans and hindi dialogues for Kajol and Dhanush starrer VIP 2.
Swati and I were writing Santaan for Shakuntalam Productions. Laado's auditions were happening and Neelimaji had called me for an audition. I was totally reluctant about it as I wasn't getting good roles. But my wife believed in me and I went for the audition and the next day I got a call that I was selected. Laado turned into a game-changer and the career kickstarted again.
What are your views about working in OTT?
OTT is the hot spot for the audience right now, I had been a part of Big Bull and more to come for sure. The space not only brings a scope to experiment with new characters, it also brings a major possibility for the writing aspect as well. I still remember after Big Bull, I was approached by many casting directors for some really interesting roles. It completely feels that the sun has risen again for me with new light.
Indeed, the sun has risen bright for Anand Goradia, we can't wait to see him in upcoming projects. He will be soon seen in a Gujarati film and Hotstar web series, that was exclusively updated by Tellychakkar.com.
