Tellychakkar got in touch with the actress and asked her about the challenges she faces while she essays the role of Kadambari, and how she balances playing a negative character and being so stylish.

What is the biggest challenge for you when it comes to playing a negative character?

I have not played a character that is so negative. More than challenges, it was very exciting for me to play the role because she is someone who has no conscience and so honestly, every day was very exciting as with every scene there is something new to explore in terms of emotions and range.

My parents have been editors and journalists and hit home as it was similar to the profession that Kadambari Patel had because it was a similar territory for me so it was fun to play, where I was the editor and I attended a press conference or yelling at the employees or being mean to them, so that was fun.

The face-off between the two characters  ( Kadambari and Indu) during the courtroom drama was loved by the audience and that’s when the cameo role became an extended role for the show. It’s been an exciting experience and I am sad that the show is going off–air.

How did you balance the act of playing a villain and at the same time be so stylish on-screen?

I had a fantastic creative team. They were so good and I didn't have to put any of my input into it. They in fact surprised me with every look and scene; changing my hairstyle. They used to give good hairstyle references. Also, the makeup artist did not make me look like an alien, and also the way the saree was draped by the costume team and by the creative team, and I would like to mention,  Rimjim (Sol Productions)  and  Khushi Archarya ( Anuradha and Khurrna’s team); both the girls really worked hard and made me look so well on-screen.

The only thing I had to do was take care of how I carried the look and how my saree is draped and all, so I can take responsibility of that!

So, how much time did it take to get ready from Prerna to Kadambari?

Well, every day it took 2 hours. My EP was fed up as we would take the longest time to change the look, at least 45 mins to get into my scene. For me, my makeup, my hair, and my costume would take time, so they did go all out to make me look better in every frame.

What is the one thing you are going to miss from the show, once it goes off–air?

I think it would be my character Kadambari. She was so mean with all the masterstrokes and plans; the confidence and she was a woman who didn’t have a family, she left her child and in spite of that, she is so successful, so fearless and bold. I am going to miss playing her.

Well, there is no doubt that the fans are going to miss watching Prerna as Kadambari Patel on screen.
