MUMBAI: Vinit Kakar has received accolades of appreciation for the kind of work he brings on the screen.
The RadhaKrshn actor has played an array of roles on mythology and in an exclusive conversation with Tellychakkar.com, Vinit mentioned that it does pose as a challenge for actors who do mythological shows to gain recognition as compared to fiction shows.
Vinit shared, “Well, mythology as a genre is great. I have played two characters – Shishupal and Takshak in my recent show RadhaKrshn and shooting with Sumedh Mudgalkar has been good too. I met Sumedh when I was shooting for Chandragupt Maurya and we became friends then. And I met him again on Ram Siya Ke Luv Kush. All these were shows by Swastik Productions. And I appreciate him for the way he carries the show on his shoulder. As for my characters of Shishupal and Takshak, my character tends to overpower the other characters.
Speaking of recognition, there is a lot of make-up and jewellery that becomes a problem. Even after doing so many shows you need to introduce yourself and tell people the profile of work you have done and then they are able to connect with you. That is not the case with fiction shows. The biggest issue of doing mythology shows is recognition as one is not in jewellery and make-up. Mythology is supposed to be quite loud and one needs to completely forget about the character once you are out of it. When I am assigned a character, I am like an alpha male! I am like superman, but then I need to snap back in an out of it constantly as I can’t be the same in reality.”
