MUMBAI: Star Plus show Imlie, which is produced under the banner 4 Lion Films, is working wonders. Ace producers Gul Khan and Karishma Jain have managed to entertain viewers with a fresh storyline and brought a bunch of talented stars under one roof.

The show is always in the top three shows on BARC ratings, and the leads of the show, Sumbul and Gashmeer, are loved as an on-screen couple and have a good fan following. Their characters have become household names.

Viewers like the banter between Imlie, Aditya, and Mayuri, and no wonder the show is doing so well.

Imlie as a character is very innocent and gullible and that’s what connects with the audience.

TellyChakkar got in touch with Sumbul and asked her about how she bagged the role, to which the actress said that post Ishaaron Ishaaron Mein going off-air, the lockdown happened and things were shut down.

Post that, she said that she had given many auditions for movies, digital series, and television shows but was always rejected and that broke her confidence, and she felt depressed and thought that nothing would happen in her acting career.

One fine day, the SP (supervising producer) of her previous show called her and said that there was an audition for the lead role of an upcoming show, and the character is from Bihar and she has to speak in that language. She refused the role as she thought she wouldn’t be able to do it as her confidence had come down post the rejections she faced.

But then, later the SP advised her to at least try once and then she came on board through the audition process.

Sumbul further said that she thought that she wouldn’t get the role and was dejected that she couldn’t act.

Later on, she was called for the mock test with the leading actor and that is when she was a little positive about things could work. She wanted work badly, and everything was going in the wrong direction.

Post the mock test, the SP called her and said that she bagged the show, and she couldn’t control her happiness and was dancing around and told every family member about it.

In the end, she said that Imlie changed her life. She became more confident and showed fans what a talented actress she is.
