The show has captivated the hearts of the audience with its gripping storyline and is high on drama. We got in touch with the spice of the show Tulika aka Sharmila Shinde and asked her some interesting questions regarding the show and more. Check out her gripping answers to them.
The early leap in the show was foreseen already, despite that what made you choose the character Tulika, how comfortable were you to do it?
I was aware that the show was going to take an early leap, but I always wanted to play such a character, it is soo good, someone who is mavali and tapori. A typical bambaiya lady. Sangeeta Rao is directing it and I always wanted to work with her. A lot of things were getting ticked and since they were not showing us really old.
The character is such who would take care of themselves and not look old, as an actor you wouldn't want to turn old on-screen so soon. People would get used to seeing you older than you are. Since I knew that the character will not turn too old, just like Mere Sai. The story is so beautiful, Tulika justifies her character, she is someone who could be a villain in someone's life but a hero in hers so yes I could digest the leap for such an interesting character.
Tulika has her own antiques, did you take anything from the Marathi shows or you had special preparations?
Not really, In Marathi tv, we speak a very pure and fluent language that isn't used in Mumbai. I come from Pune, which is known as the cultural hub of Maharashtra so the Marathi we speak in Pune is pure and spoken in the industry. All regions have their own dialect, Mumbai has the bambaiya language, it is not really Marathi, it is a mix of languages that turn tapori in Bombay. So for Tulika, it was not easy just because I was Marathi as it is bambaiya. I had to actually sit down and make a list of Bambaiyaa words and with every scene, I decide how to use the words in every dialogue.
The way I have given names to everyone, I call Nima Momo, the kids become chillar. I have takiya kalaam like dimag mein fit Karle. It does not make it easier as a Marathi but this is Bambaiyaa. Fans often think that this is Marathi but it only has a touch of the culture but this comes from the regions of Bombay.
Talking about the firsts tell us about your first show and its memory?
My first show was a Marathi show on Star Pravah 'Swapnanchya Palikadale', fun fact about it is that my first show of the show was with Usha Naik who is playing my mother in law in Nima Denzongpa, so from my first show and now that we have reunited, it has been almost a decade. She is an amazing woman to work with and I am really enjoying it.
Well, this is not it, there is a lot more to know about Sharmila Shinde apart from her character Tulika.
