MUMBAI: Ekta Kapoor's reality show titled “Lock Upp,” where 17 contestants will be locked in jail, play the game, and fight for getting bail to survive, was launched on MX Player and Alt Balaji.

The audience has given it a thumbs-up.

Kangana Ranaut will be making her OTT debut with the show as the host where she will be guiding the contestants.

The entire concept is a setup in jail.

Ali Merchant entered the house two weeks back. The actor has made a place in the hearts of the audience. He is playing the game extremely well.

You are coming back to television after 12 years. What are the changes you see in yourself and how is this new phase for you?

To be honest, I am going into the game with the right intentions. I will be accepting my sins I have committed in my life. I want to make my kids proud of this new Ali that I have become over the years. There was a time when I used to think why I wasn’t getting any work. Then, I also slipped into depression. I started to work in a company in Badlapur and I used to hear a lot of songs, and it’s music that has kept me alive.

What is the biggest lesson you have learned in your life?

Today, I am a very different person. When I was young, I had a big ego, but today, after so many years, I am a changed person. Now, not everything affects me. Even today, when I will meet Sara, as we both have grown up to become different personalities, we will see things in a different way. I have learnt to not say “yes” to everything.

Do you have any message for your fans?

I would just like to tell my fans to support me unconditionally as I am a changed man. I just want to earn love and respect, leave with good memories, and leave the past behind.

Well, no doubt that Ali is playing the game exceptionally well. He has connected with the audience.
